Haider is a designer, artist, and researcher exploring the intricacies of more-than-human presents and futures for art, design, and technology.

I acknowlege the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land where I work and live. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging. I celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.

I’ve been teaching both undergraduate and post-graduate level since 2016. As an alumnus of the National College of Arts in Pakistan, I support a karkhana approach or mentor-apprentice pedagogy for fostering a student-subject bond. Play is a large part of my learning and teaching process as I encourage all my students to take a reflective approach through practice and research through design methods.

I often take the example of a playground in my classes, where freedom and imagination mingle together to craft new realities. A mentorship approach makes one appreciate the balance of play and work, and I strive to incorporate that in my teaching as much as I can; particularly in my studio classes.

My teaching philosophy thus becomes one of acceptance, patience, and drive. I feel all students in my class must be given the necessary opportunity to absorb as much information presented as possible in a comfortable manner, while being as inquisitive as they feel necessary in the process.
